Photography is more than images—it’s a feeling, a memory, a way of holding on to what matters. My approach is rooted in presence, trust, and an eye for honest beauty. Each collection is crafted with intention, so that what we create together not only reflects this season of life, but elevates it into something lasting.
Your story deserves more than a photoshoot. It deserves to be seen—clearly, softly, truthfully.
My business is rooted in my core values: environmental stewardship, humanity, and authenticity. You are free to express your truest self on your wedding day, and I want to help you bring that vision to life.
I'm a documentary photojournalist-turned elopement photographer, and I can't wait to get to know you! Playing outside is the best way to experience life together, and I combined my 10-years in the Army planning events, formal journalism training, and vast travel experience to help you plan an epic elopement that feels like your honeymoon.
"My husband and I had an intimate elopement in Glacier National Park in September 2023 and booked Kat to do our photography. Best decision ever!
We felt like we had a close friend by our side throughout the day and she captured all of our moments beautifully. She is thoughtful, creative, adaptable, and optimistic, making her the perfect addition to your wedding day. We are so grateful to have stunning photos to treasure forever thanks to Salt and Stone!"
The sooner you find your perfect match in a photographer, the more time we have to plan your adventure and ensure you get first pick of options. I've had couples book two years out, and I've had couples book the week-of. For Glacier National Park, I always recommend 6mo out to ensure you have access to the right lodging and time to navigate the permits. GNP does not issue permits for wedding ceremonies <30 days out, but we can absolutely find a perfect location in some of the other nearby public lands that is just as beautiful, and even take portraits in GNP later!
Bottom Line: If you are feeling spontaneous, we can make it happen!
Yes! I'm blessed to live in Missoula, MT in the conflux of five valleys, with Glacier National Park in my backyard. I'm also only 14 minutes from Missoula International Airport and have become a pro at travel through lots of Army, personal, and photo-driven travel. I've been to 48 states and 28 countries, and spend my free time war-gaming the best way to get to Greenland to sea kayak between the icebergs, and how far in advance to book an Everest Base Camp trek.
The best part? My travel is ALWAYS included in my package price! You have so much to think about already; me getting there shouldn't be another thing to worry about! If your love story includes a guided tour, I'll just need a seat on the boat/heli/bus.
All you need to ever be is true to yourself. Adventure means something different to everyone, and together we will craft a truly YOU itinerary that makes sense. I love working with clients in the outdoors, from urban jungle to state park to backcountry forest to underwater wonderland.
Come as you are and we will craft your perfect day around what brings you joy!
It totally depends! Every couple and every wedding is different, but usually couples end up wanting a few hours more than they originally thought. You have to ask yourself a few questions:
1. What do you want to remember about your wedding day?
2. Are you comfortable being posed and directed, or do you prefer more natural movement, candid moments that happen organically, and your photo team to feel like family?
The reality is that candid moments happen in the margins. A fully-packed timeline can make your wedding day feel like a blur, instead of savoring every moment. Building "breathing room" into the timeline gives you both time to sneak away and enjoy the day, without feeling rushed.
Bottom line: We can't capture tender moments of your mom tearing up when she sees you in your dress if she was just rushing to zip you in because we only had 10 minutes to get to the isle.
Yes! These are becoming so much more popular, as couples balance celebrating with loved ones, incorporating any family/religious traditions, and THEN celebrating their love in the privacy of each other's company.
What this may look like:
A beautiful, classic wedding day at a local venue, followed by a sunrise hike of your favorite mountain trail with private vows and stunning portraits, or an afternoon paddle on the river.

Absolutely. While the majority of my clients celebrate with <30 guests, I am happy to capture classic weddings as well. I specialize in documentary-style photography which highlights the tender moments, the candid emotions, and all the joyful celebrating, no matter the guest count!
