Colorado Adventure Engagement Photos in the Snowy Rockies
Amanda and Eli’s engagement session at Loveland Pass was pure winter magic — the kind of crisp, blue-sky Colorado day that makes you forget your fingers are frozen because the views (and the couple!) are just that good. Even though I’m based in Montana and typically photograph engagement sessions in Glacier and the surrounding mountains, I happened to be visiting friends in Boulder and was able to make this session happen for two incredibly sweet humans. It felt like fate — the timing, the weather, and their energy all lined up perfectly.

We met right at the top of Loveland Pass, where the road crests above treeline and the Continental Divide opens into panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. As we were gearing up, we even spotted a tiny winter elopement happening nearby — vows being whispered into the wind, snow swirling around them. It set the tone for the entire session: intimate, adventurous, and full of that “mountains make everything better” feeling.

Amanda and Eli were absolute naturals together. We started with some classic engagement portraits in the snow, but their playful side showed up fast. A snowball fight broke out (Eli definitely started it), followed by Eli tackling Amanda into a laughing heap in the powder. These two have that kind of chemistry that makes you feel like you’re photographing best friends who can’t believe they get to marry each other.

To warm up, they spread out a cozy blanket for a hot cocoa moment, complete with Eli’s favorite thermos plastered with Star Wars stickers — a detail that felt so uniquely them. We ended the session with a few frames featuring the Arapahoe Basin ski lodge in the distance, tying their story to a place they’ve spent many winter days together.

It was such a joy getting to know them in a landscape that felt both rugged and romantic. And as a bonus? These snowy images were perfectly on-vibe for their 2025 Christmas card. Sometimes the universe hands you a session that feels effortless, heartfelt, and full of laughter — and Amanda and Eli’s Loveland Pass engagement was exactly that.
Engagement sessions are so much more than a warm-up for your wedding — they’re the foundation for building trust and connection on and off camera. This is where you get comfortable being photographed, learn how to move together, and start to understand what poses feel natural for you as a couple. It also gives me the chance to learn your rhythms, your humor, and the ways you instinctively reach for each other, so when your wedding day arrives, we already have a shared language. The result? Photos that feel effortless, genuine, and true to who you are. If you’re dreaming of your own adventure engagement session — in Montana or anywhere my travel schedule aligns — reach out and let’s make something beautiful together.
